According to the American Diabetes Association, 18.7% of African-Americans (that is twice as many African-Americans as Caucasians) and 11% of Latinos are diagnosed with diabetes.  The best way to prevent and treat Type II Diabetes is simple: a whole-foods, plant-based diet.  Free yourself from the unnecessary shackles of this disease!

What is Type II Diabetes?

If you have Type II Diabetes, one of two things is happening in your body.  Either your pancreas is not making enough insulin or your body does not recognize the insulin that your pancreas does make.  Without insulin, the glucose in your body cannot enter the cells and builds up in your bloodstream instead.  When this happens, cells cannot function properly and multiple areas of your body are damaged.

The problem is...  ï»¿

Fat.

According to Dr. Neal Barnard, fat blocks insulin from its ability to unlock cells to let glucose in just like a wad of chewing gum would block a key from opening your front door.  So, the key to getting insulin to be able to do its job in our bodies, is to reduce the amount of fat that we eat.

The best treatment is...

You guessed it.  A whole foods, plant-based diet

Why?

  • A whole foods, plant-based diet greatly decreases your fat intake.

  • A whole foods, plant-based diet is cheaper!

  • Diabetic pills increase your risk for heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular problems.

  • Aggressive treatment harms patients.
